Academic Policy



This policy applies to all members of every chapter of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Interfraternity Council.

SECTION 1 – Regulations

A.    If a fraternity fails to maintain a 2.5 average GPA at the end of the semester for all initiated members, the fraternity will be summoned to a judicial hearing by the IFCJB.

B.    No man may be initiated into a fraternity without having a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

C.    All brothers who have a 2.25 GPA or lower will be required to attend one study hall per week or per Chapter Scholastics Policy, whichever is greater. Proof of completion shall be submitted to the IFC Scholastics Director. Failure to do so will result in a $25 fine per infraction to the Chapter and a ban on the individual in question from playing intramural sports.

D.   If a man has not completed any college work before recruitment, he will be required to have a 2.5 high school GPA in order to join a fraternity.

E.    A man who has completed college work before recruitment will be required to have a 2.5 cumulative college GPA in order join a fraternity.


The Interfraternity Council is the governing body for the North American Interfraternity Conference organizations chartered at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
