Fraternity History:
The Kappa Sigma Fraternity is the largest international fraternity with currently 316 active chapters and colonies in North America. In 2012, the fraternity pledged more men than any other fraternity in history. It was founded on December 10, 1869 at University of Virginia by founders William Grigsby McCormick, George Miles Arnold, John Covert Boyd, Edmund Law Rogers, and Frank Courtney Nicodemus. Together they are known as "The Five Friends and Brothers". The name is "Kappa Sigma Fraternity" as prescribed by Article I, Section I, of our Constitution. Usually the name is given as Kappa Sigma, and it is also proper to refer to the fraternity as Kappa Sig. The badge of Kappa Sigma is a five pointed star touching the outer rim of the crescent. The badge is a convex and bears the Greek letters shown above and certain symbols of our Fraternity. The colors are often used to adorn the badge through the use of rubies, pearls, and emeralds, set in the star points, outer rim of the Crescent and in the circle which encloses the Greek letters in the center of the Badge.

Chapter Brief:

The largest fraternity in the world, and the largest fraternity in Chattanooga. Kappa Sigma first came to Chattanooga in 1882, since then we have initiated more than 1,000 brothers over the decades here at UTC, 600 of which still live in the greater Chattanooga area. Some of the most prominent names throughout the history of Chattanooga have come from our chapter, and many more exist as leaders and professionals in our community today.  Membership into Kappa Sigma does not last only for four years of college, but for life. Brothers will never find themselves without a helping hand to push them to the next level both personally and professionally.
