Leadership Development & Opportunities

The LeaderShape Institute is an intensive, energizing, six-day educational experience designed to equip young adults to become extraordinary leaders. Each session of The LeaderShape Institute is comprised of approximately 60 from diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. The Institute’s curriculum is presented by a group of facilitators who are all highly respected in their own professions and serve as excellent role models for the students.
Much of the week’s work is done in small groups we call Family Clusters, which create a safe, supportive learning environment. Participants work together, form close friendships, and benefit from new perspectives. Each person in the Family Cluster works to define a personal vision — an extraordinary commitment to changing or contributing to the world in a positive way.
Based on that vision, participants then develop a blueprint for the action they will undertake when they return home — with the objective of effecting meaningful, measurable change in their organization or community during the next 9-12 months. With the guidance of LeaderShape facilitators, participants complete a blueprint that identifies the goals, relationships, and action steps that are essential to the project’s success.
The LeaderShape institute helps participants explore not only what they want to do, but who they want to be. We believe integrity is at the heart of leadership. As a result, the Institute creates space to identify core values and explore how individual choices have an impact on congruence and how we are perceived as leaders.

Lead UTC is an in-depth weekend retreat devoted to leadership development through learning and application of values within individuals and organizations at UTC. Individuals will gain a foundation for making ethical decisions, an appreciation for their organization's purpose or mission, improved interpersonal and communication skills, and an action plan fostering the growth and health of their organization and fellow members. Through experiential learning and small group discussions, ideally, individuals will also walk away with new relationships and a stronger sense of community.

UIFI is a five day institute that brings together fraternity men and sorority women from across North America to create opportunities to explore, define, and enhance their leadership skills, personal awareness, commitment to their fraternity or sorority, and grow to expect values based action from themselves and those they lead. At UIFI, you will be given skills to improve your own leadership abilities and positively affect your chapter, council, and community. IFC Sponsors two scholarships for this program every summer. Scholarship includes registration and travel expenses.
Fraternity Sorority Leadership Academy
September 23rd, 2016-September 25th; Camp Lookout This Institute based experience is meant for fraternity and sorority members who are interested in serving on their organization's/council's executive board during the 2017 calendar year. Each fraternity/sorority will need to send 2 or 3 representatives (preferably sophomores or juniors) to FSLA. Attendees must be in good conduct and academic standing with their fraternity/sorority and the institution. Food, lodging, and transportation provided by the Office of the Dean of Students. More details will be available on OrgSync at a later date, but reach out to your colony/chapter president if you are interested in attending. As a result of being an active participant during FSLA, fraternity/sorority representatives will establish the importance of trust within a team; be challenged to see how the present reality of fraternities and sororities affects their futures; develop an appreciation for and a commitment to positive risk-taking and personal accountability; engage in a discussion about how our rituals can become our Ritual, etc. Please do not hesitate to contact Associate Dean Danny Grzesik at Daniel-Grzesik@utc.edu or (423)425-2321 if you have any additional questions. |
